Cooking Class: Aloo Tikki with Chole

Punjab, a vibrant region in northern India and Pakistan, is famous for its rich and diverse cuisine, characterized by bold flavors and hearty dishes. Punjab, known as the “Land of Five Rivers,” has a rich agricultural heritage that has significantly influenced its cuisine. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn to make two beloved dishes: Aloo Tikki, and Chole; a well as a fun infusion snack- Masala Fried Potatoes with chutneys and a Greek yogurt dipping sauce!
Aloo Tikki is a hand shaped vegetable and potato fritter that are perfectly seasoned and pan-fried to perfection. The flavor profile of Aloo Tikki is a harmonious mix of earthy, spicy, and tangy notes, thanks to the use of traditional Indian spices like cumin, coriander, and garam masala. The British colonial period saw the development and popularization of Indian street food. During this time, street vendors began selling a variety of snacks, including versions of Aloo Tikki.
